If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Alabama’s men basketball team to the court, the wait is over! The Crimson Tide returns to action full time this November with some home and away contests. Now’s a great time to plan a trip to the see the Tide play basketball in what is sure to be an exciting season for Coach Avery Johnson’s squad.
2018-2019 Season Preview
It’s no secret that the early departure to the NBA of Alabama freshman phenom Collin Sexton leaves the Tide with a void to fill for the 2018-2019 season. Luckily for Coach Avery Johnson, key contributors John Petty, Donta Hall, and Dazon Ingram return to lend a hand and help make up for the deficit. There’s further good news due to the fact that the Tide is deep and added some key players like Kira Lewis. The 6’3” guard out of Hazel Green high school may be even younger than the typical freshman, but he’ll be relied upon heavily based on early reports that have come out about his ability. Transfer Tevin Mack is also eligible to play this year after sitting one year out due to NCAA rules, and Riley Norris got a medical redshirt and will once again hope to contribute during his senior season.
Last year’s Tide squad definitely resembled a roller coaster at times. There were upsets of some teams, some unexpected/unexplainable losses, and a decent run in the NCAA tournament. The fact is, however, that last year the Tide was an incredibly young team and even with the departure of Sexton, they are going to be expected to improve this season and take the next step.
