Cold brew coffee

If you wake up feeling sleepy and unready to start the day, then you know what a blessing a nice cup of coffee can be. While some like their coffee practically burning hot, others like theirs on the colder side. If you fit into the latter category, you may even prefer to have your coffee topped with some cold cream. But did you know that you don’t have to go to your local coffee shop to enjoy this tasty treat topping? It’s true. You can make it in the comfort of your home. Here’s how.

Choose Low-fat Milk

Low-fat milk doesn’t exactly taste the most delicious, but if you are making cold foam, it’s what you’re going to want to use. Why? Because the lower fat content makes it easier for air to work itself into the milk, creating that foamy froth you’re going for. If you can find 1 percent or 2 percent, go for that. Skim milk could also work here, but it probably won’t taste as good as your other options.

Use a Hand-held Frother

Perhaps the best way to make your old cold foam is by using a hand-held frother. You may be astonished at the various places you can find something like this. Ordering one online is easy, but you may also be able to pick one up from your local home goods store or even a grocery store. To use this method, you’re just going to stick the frother into the milk and turn it on. Before you know it, you will have delicious foam. Just be sure to use milk that’s cold and straight out of the fridge.

Froth Your Milk With a Blender

Of course, not everyone has a milk frother at home, and we get it. It’s kind of a niche tool. What many people do have in their kitchens, however, is a blender. You can create cold foam with a blender, too, if you have a little patience. Pour as much milk as you desire in your drink into the blender, and blend on high for about 15 to 30 seconds. Not as foamy as you want? Keep mixing a little longer. As soon as your satisfied, pour it over the top of your coffee and enjoy.

Whether you want to save a little bit of money going out to get coffee again, or you want to be creative with what you have in your kitchen, you should definitely try making your cold foam.
