The Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame is about to get a prestigious member. Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder is going to be a part of the hall of fame’s first class of inductees. He will act as a headliner for the induction event at the Tuscaloosa River Market on May 12th. The event starts at 7 p.m. and will be part of a professional fight card.
About the Ceremony
If you want to go to the event, you will need to get a ticket. You can get a ticket for $50 or $100. The $50 ticket will get you into the induction and fight card, while the $100 ticket will also include an official fight program booklet and dinner.
Along with Deontay Wilder, the event will honor the late Joe Louis and the late Petey Sarron. Eddie Surratt will be honored in the manager/trainer/promoter category, and Billy Martin will enter the hall of fame for his role in the support personnel category.
The event will also honor Dr. Ted Cox. He was the 2016 Master Boxer of the Year.
About Deontay Wilder
It’s no wonder why Deontay Wilder is getting inducted into the Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame. As the recipient of the United States’ only boxing medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Wilder created a name for himself as a powerful force in the ring. His career skyrocketed after the Olympics, and he won his first professional title in 2012. The knockout specialist won the WBC heavyweight title in 2015, and he has held onto it ever since. He will defend his title against Bermane Stiverne in the near future. Expect to see an intense fight when he comes out to defend the title.
Deontay Wilder packs a powerful one-two punch, but you don’t have to get into the ring to enjoy great power.
