Tuscaloosa, Alabama plays a significant role in uniting the society through sport. Tuscaloosa has even been named ‘City of Champions’ as a result of the University of Alabama’s success in sports especially football. The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has won 16 National Championships; this is more National Championship wins than any other team has achieved. The team also went ahead to win the College Football playoff in 2015. To further demonstrate the sporting nature of Tuscaloosa, the city played host to USA Olympic Trials in 2008 in preparation for the Beijing Olympics.

The Women’s Tennis Team that represents the University of Alabama is a force to be reckoned with.
