How To Reset After Christmas

It can be difficult to switch from holiday mode to your normal routine once Christmas is over. All the festivity and holiday events can take over your life as well as your home for several weeks that once Christmas has passed, it can be hard getting back to a simpler schedule. Thankfully, there are a few tips that can help you and your family reset after the holidays.

Take Out the Trash

The first thing you need to do to get back to normal after Christmas is to take out the trash. From empty boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper, and even leftovers, there is probably a lot of clutter around your home. You need to grab some trash bags and simply remove whatever can be thrown away. It’s also a good rule of thumb to throw away all your gift wrapping and bags in the same bag and not toss into the bin yet. That way if you notice that a gift card is missing, you can rummage through the trash bag that only contained the wrapping material.

Load It Up

Other things that can make your home look untidy is a sink full of dishes and laundry basket spilling over with shirts, socks, and more. After Christmas, spend a day loading your dishwasher and washing machine. Doing laundry as well as washing and putting away your dishes will do wonders into making your home neat and clean.

Make Goals

While it is important to reset your home, you also need time to reset your focus and your mind. After you have decluttered and thoroughly cleaned your house, take time to list out the goals you want to accomplish for the new year. Do not merely write your goals out. Write out steps you will take to actively achieve these goals for the new year. With a clean home and a new goal list, you will be set to take on the new year with pep and vigor.
