Why is it so hard to keep a New Year’s resolution? The majority of people, at some point in their lives, have made a New Year’s resolution – and then broke it. This year, stop the endless cycle of deciding to make a change and then not following through. In need of some tips on how to keep yours? We’ve got you covered! Check out these tips to help you get started.

New Year, New You

Set A Realistic Goal

You want to make sure your goal is attainable. For example, deciding to cut something out completely is less likely to actually happen than just cutting back on the thing.

Pick One Resolution

Focusing all of your energy on just one goal, rather than several, will decrease the likelihood of you getting burnt out. Having fewer, smaller goals can help increase the chances of you achieving them.

Plan Ahead

Don’t create your resolution on New Year’s Eve. If you wait until the last minute, those goals will be based on your mindset on that particular day. Plan well ahead of December 31st.

Start Small

Small steps can lead to success. Decrease the number of goals you are setting at once. Break them out into smaller ones. This will increase the likelihood of you sticking to them and will create long-term success.

It’s A Process

Unhealthy habits usually take months, or even years, to develop. It will be difficult to change them in a matter of days or weeks. It is not a race. Take your time and stick to it!
