Alabama Blues Weekend at U of A
Alabama Blues Weekend takes place July 7-8, 2017 on the University of Alabama Campus. Participants are invited to unique blues concerts both Friday and Saturday night. Throughout the weekend, masterclasses will be held and sessions led by blues and music industry experts will be available, too. Registration is only $10 per person – register here. Some highlights include Two Blues Concerts Opportunities to Observe Masterclasses Breakout Sessions Led by Blues Experts Free concert Friday night, at Government Plaza — featuring Birmingham Seven. All proceeds benefit the Alabama Blues Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Blues music through interactive programs, after-school camps, clubs, and advanced ensembles. USA Softball is Coming to Tuscaloosa!
Team USA will be heading to Tuscaloosa, competing at Rhoads Stadium in a softball doubleheader. Team USA, featuring local softball standout Hayllie McCleney, University of Alabama graduate and softball Alumni, will compete against Tuscaloosa’s own elite collegiate athletes from across the great state of Alabama, the Alabama All-Stars. The exhibition games will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 6 PM and 8 PM. Rhoads Stadium is located at 321 5th Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. Tickets start at only $12.50 for General Admission, $2200 for reserved seating, and $32.00 for premier seating. Additional events include a softball players Camp, an Invitational Tournament, and Team USA and Alabama All-Stars Practice. Homegrown Alabama Farmer’s Market
The Homegrown Alabama Farmer’s Market is a University of Alabama student-run farmer’s market. It is held each Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Canterbury Chapel, just off campus. It runs all summer long, so you can visit July 6, July 13, July 20, etc. The market is full of all different kinds of vendors. They hail from all over the state, not just Tuscaloosa. They sell homegrown fruits and vegetables, jams, jellies, and baked good. They also sell non-food items such as soaps, visual art, etc! Come down to the university to support UA student as well as local farmers and crafters. They will provide you the best of what Alabama has to offer. all you have to bring is your smile.
